University of Tulsa Oral Roberts

University of Tulsa roots. Founded in 1894 and known around campus as “TU,” this school has dozens of undergraduate majors as well as graduate and doctoral degree programs. TU is listed in the 2006 edition of The Princeton Review’s The Best 361 Colleges placing 9th for having the happiest students, 10th in quality of life and 5th for good relationships with its community.

TU Sports and Athletics. TU’s student-athletes, the Golden Hurricanes, won Conference-USA championships in football, women’s basketball and men’s tennis. The football team won the Liberty Bowl in December 2005, and the women’s basketball team went to the NCAA finals a first in school history.  [Top]

Oral Roberts, University Founder. Oral Roberts is an educator, evangelist, businessman, author, and television personality. The University, ORU, was chartered in 1963 and accepted its first students 2 years later. The campus now has 22 major buildings and 5,300 students enrolled in 66 undergraduate concentrations and 16 graduate level programs in business, education, and theology. Music and ministries are also extremely important.

ORU Students with a Mission. The University’s Missions Department was established in 1976, and since then, more than 4,000 students have been involved.  ORU missions teams have traveled across North America as well as to various countries around the world. Since the Missions Department's conception, participation has grown exponentially, changing the lives of both of the students and people around the globe.  [Top]
